  • MAKING THE SHAPES AND TEXTURES

I used Blender to create tactile textured spheres, drawing inspiration from the foam textures I had created earlier.

Upon asking my classmates, they all meant that both the straight and diagonal lines felt like the same pattern because they couldn’t accurately discern the direction of the foam board, making it seem like the lines were in the same direction.

Blender is a programme I’m not fully familiar with so I had to follow a few tutorials. After that, the process actually went smoothly and I ended up creating more experiments then I planned to (from five to twelve).

Since Blender is a program I am not fully familiar with, I had to rely on several Youtube Tutorials to familiarise myself with its functions. Surprisingly, once I gained a better understanding, the process went smoothly, resulting in more experiments than originally intended—increasing from five to twelve.

WEEKLY ROUNDUP

This week, I focused on ideating the toolkit’s appearance, specifically the multisensory objects. Given my focus has been solely on the technical aspect for a while now, I think it is evident that I have not put in much effort into the look of the objects, at least so far. Despite having a few initial ideas already, I have to consider the choice of materials and assess their compatibility with the sketched designs.

Additionally, I am uncertain about whether I will do 3D printing. I have talked with a classmate and he mentioned that the printer in school is not accurate and leaves a lot of errors. Considering the spheres in Blender being detailed, I am a bit nervous about the printer’s ability to accurately print them.
