FINAL ROUNDUP
I’M DONE! (well, not entirely—I still need to finish my Catalogue of Making). But regardless… These past three years have flown by so quickly. I’d say these last two semesters have been the most rewarding for me as a designer. When I began my degree at Lasalle, I was unsure about my preferences and interests in design, hence why I wanted to explore as much as possible. While I always thought I’d be drawn to graphic design, this atelier experience has revealed my liking towards creating physical objects, leaning more towards product design. Not only this, but I realised I enjoy doing research, observation, analysis, and using aesthetics to create designs.
Throughout this year-long project, I’ve also identified areas for improvement as a designer. I need to trust my design decisions more and refrain from seeking constant approval from others before I take the next step. I should embrace the “just do it” mindset and evaluate my decisions as I go along. I’m saying this because most of the time this semester, I’ve been waiting for my consultations with Andreas before I move on to the next thing. However, the good thing is that I improved my time management! In previous semesters, I struggled with time management, but this time, I think I organised my tasks efficiently. I had ample time to explore and create. While there are still many aspects I could refine in this project, as a graduation project, I’m genuinely satisfied with it.
The shift from last semester to this semester is something I find very intriguing and I am very happy that it happened. This project feels very “me” and can’t wait for others to see it. I am very proud of my project and I am happy to see that other people do too. I think this project has shown what I am capable of.
Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to Andreas for being an amazing supervisor. Without him, this project wouldn’t have reached its current level. Thank you A LOT! .I also want to thank my classmates for their continuous support and companionship. Having them around has made the college experience so much better. I will miss seeing them everyday in school…
To conclude, I’d like to share some photos from the year.
A lot of trips to SinPrint.
Two hours napping on my desk.
